Peter Thiel is criticized for emboldening teenagers to pursue their development through self-directed learning. The argument is that college degrees are accepted in many fields and the self-taught may be underestimating that requirement.

From my perspective, talking with young entrepreneurs, or as Catherine describes herself as a researcher using math to help people on a large scale, I see the value of what Peter Thiel, the Fellows and the Foundation are doing. They are creating an alternative path, where those like Catherine are able to thrive.

No wonder I believe so fervently in the future of our country and civilization. With the minds of youth, supportive like-minded communities, and access to new technology—the opportunities are infinite. I enjoy witnessing opportunity meeting preparation for these youthful entrepreneurs. They give me hope.
